Filed under: From Bachelor To The 'Burbs
Often I forget why I started this blog. The reason, of course, was to chronicle my descent – err, lifestyle change, that is – from that of free-wheeling bachelor to suburban ‘insta-dad’. In an attempt to re-touch upon my original intent, then, allow me to report that there is now another signpost on my road to life in the ‘burbs…

I bought a gazebo. Somehow, this strikes me as a particularly large sign that I’ve become overly comfortable in my married life here in Pickering… and once again, I don’t really care. My gazebo is wonderful, and it was on sale [$100, baby!], and it’s huge and I will sit there and drink Arnold Palmers all spring and summer and fall until I am forced to admit that those white things on the ground are snowflakes and that I should take my gazeebo down for the season. Yes. There will be much sitting in the gazebo, and it will be done while you single city people are at pubs trying to pick up other single people for whatever it is you single people do. MY GAZEBO RULES OVER ALL!
Family stuff: Handsome Jack has become a true member of our little home. He’s far less skittish, and chases Abby around everywhere trying to play with her. He’s clearly afraid of the children, but at least he doesn’t run like the wind when they approach. And he’s so friendly, it’s like having Malachai back again! Hailey is going to B.C. alone to visit her granmother this summer, and has been all over me to take her to Great Wolf Lodge beforehand. Liam just had his First Communion, and I’ll post pictures this week: we had a nice part for twenty family and friends yesterday here that included my mother and Liam’s godfather. Today was Mother’s Day, and the kids and I spent the day with Tania: Hailey and Liam made her breakfast in bed, I took us all to lunch, and we spent the afternoon eating ice vream down at the lake. My baby’s even better-lookin’ now than she was back in the day.
I’ve been typing this post all night between the finale of Survivor and have run out of time, but I want to add to anyone who still reads this that I have a major announcement to reveal… in two week’s time. D’oh!
